Kasíng Ibâ: SOGIESC Learning Kit
Kasíng Ibâ: SOGIESC Learning Kit, awarded Best Thesis by Miriam College School of Arts, Sciences, and Education, is a supplementary educational material designed for junior high school teachers and students. It aims to provide a reliable and effective learning resource for topics concerning Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC).
I designed each component of the learning kit and wrote the content outline for each material, referencing other resources written by queer scholars, experts, and organizations.
I created this as part of my senior design thesis entitled, “KASÍNG IBÂ: A Supplementary Learning Kit for Educators to teach Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics to Junior High School Students in Isabela National High School,” which was the recipient of the Best Thesis award issued by Miriam College School of Arts, Sciences, and Education (SASE).
It also seeks to address the identified gaps in gender and sexuality learning materials in the Department of Education's K-12 curriculum guidelines and teach high school students the importance of learning about SOGIESC and its nuances to correct misconceptions about the topic.
